What it is?

Marriage is one of the two Sacraments of Vocation in the Catholic Church, alongside Holy Orders.

In the sacrament of marriage, spouses pledge themselves to a lifelong journey of love and service to each other, with the potential for nurturing and raising children. Within this bond, couples experience God’s unconditional love and form the foundational element of faith, known as the domestic church.

Ceremonies
Sacred Heart parish hosts wedding ceremonies for active, registered members who have completed the necessary marriage preparation. Non-members are also welcome, but additional processes may be required. Couples should obtain re-issued baptism certificates from their Church of Baptism at least six months to a year before the wedding date. These certificates must be submitted with the marriage application. To submit a marriage application or for information about parish membership, please contact the Church Office at (304) 425-3664.

Please note that Sacred Heart cannot guarantee the availability of the Church for wedding dates that have already been scheduled. If you plan to have your wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart, we recommend not reserving a reception venue until the wedding date at Sacred Heart has been confirmed.
